Introducing Alcatraz: Winners of the Tenement Trail Talent Search

Team Bella are excited to announce that Alcatraz, a fast-rising force from Glasgow’s alternative scene, have been crowned winners of our Tenement Trail x Belladrum Talent Search for 2025! The competition was fierce but this five-piece caught attention with their high-energy performances and raw sound. Now, they’ll take their place on the Belladrum line-up this summer.

From their explosive debut at King Tuts to tearing up stages across Glasgow, Alcatraz are carving a name for themselves, and they’re just getting started. We caught up with the band to find out more...

Introduce yourselves! Who’s in the band, and how did Alcatraz come together?

Eleanor – Singer
Stokesy – Guitarist
Robbie – Guitarist
Dec – Bassist
Pete – Drummer

Aaron and Dec had met between mutual friends as they both lived near each other. Pete, Eleanor and Dec had been pals through high school together. Aaron looked to form a band and Dec roped in Pete who then were able recruit Eleanor further down the road! Our most recent addition to the band consisted of Robbie who has been a long time friend of Pete and when we needed him in last minute for an all day festival ‘Houseguest’ in Glasgow April 25’, he joined seamlessly.

What’s your sound? How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it before?

Straight bangers. Grungey, punky and alternative rocky.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

We like to draw influence from many different bands and genres to create something unique. Currently our biggest musical influences have been Wolf Alice, The Mysterines, Queens of the Stone Age, The Prodigy and The Doors.

What does playing Belladrum mean to you?

It feels absolutely insane, it barely crossed our minds that we’d even get the chance to play this. We’re so grateful to have been given this opportunity after being successful in the new artist competition and hope we can make ourselves and others proud.

What can the Bella crowd expect from your live set?

A raw, high energy performance and good times.

Any new releases or projects we should know about?

At the moment we are really trying to hone in on our live performances and to make our gigs as energetic and exciting as possible but we do have other releases getting sorted out behind the scenes, we’re excited to show people what we have.

Who on the 2025 line-up are you most excited to see?

The line up this year is absolutely stacked we’d love to catch as many as possible but our big hitters are CMAT, Supergrass, Example, October Drift and Pedalo.

We can’t wait to have Alcatraz with us later this month. Their latest single You Make Me Bleed is out now on Spotify – and trust us, it rips.
