HGWTW is a travel documentary series that follows Nashville-based singer-songwriter and producer Mark Allen as he explores global cultures through their unique musical traditions;  In 1998, Allen was recruited to run the studio for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in Nashville. During this time, he worked as a studio vocalist and songwriter alongside major country and gospel artists.

Live Performance: He is one of the longest-running performers at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, having entertained audiences there since 2006.

Grand Ole Opry: He has performed at the Grand Ol’ Opry, a major milestone in his Nashville career. 

Musical Theatre & Scoring

Allen transitioned into musical theatre and film scoring in the 2000s, earning several prestigious accolades: 

Broadway: He composed the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical Gettin’ the Band Back Together (2018).

Film Scoring: He won Best Original Score at the 2008 First Take Film Festival for the film A Viking Saga.

Awards: He is a recipient of the American Theatre Wing Jonathan Larson Grant (2009), the Frederick Loewe Award (2007), and the ASCAP Max Dreyfus Award (2005).

Dave Pomeroy

Nashville's "Low-End" legend Dave Pomeroy, is a powerhouse in the Nashville music scene, having spent over 45 years as a world-class bassist, producer, and advocate for musicians' rights. He is widely respected for his incredible versatility, moving seamlessly between country, rock, jazz, and bluegrass as key musical Highlights Session Powerhouse:.

Pomeroy has played bass on over 500 albums, including six Grammy-winning recordings.

He has collaborated with legends like Elton John, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood, and Peter Frampton. The Don Williams Era: For 14 years (1980–1994), he was the bassist for country icon Don Williams, touring the world and contributing to numerous hit records. He is known for pushing the boundaries of his instrument. He created the All-Bass Orchestra (an ensemble of up to 22 bassists) and has released several "all-bass and vocal" solo albums like ‘Basses Loaded’ and ‘Angel in the Ashes’. 

He has been named "Bassist of the Year" and "Studio Musician of the Year" at the Nashville Music Awards. 

 Pomeroy is one of the most influential figures in the business side of "Music City." Union President: Since 2008, he has served as the President of the Nashville Musicians Association (AFM Local 257). He is a fierce advocate for fair pay and intellectual property rights for working musicians.

Regina McCrary

David Pomeroy’s Musical and life partner , Regina will grace our wee stage too, as well as presenting a Gospel Show with Dave, Mark and the Nairn United Reform Church Choir under the stewardship of Fiona Richie on the Grass Roots Stage.

One of her most notable claims to fame was her close collaboration with Bob Dylan during his "Gospel Years" (1979–1981). She toured with him and sang on the albums ‘Saved’ and ‘Shot of Love’.

Alongside her sisters Ann, Deborah (who passed in 2022), and Alfreda, she has released several acclaimed albums, including ‘Our Journey’ and ‘Let’s Go’. Her resume reads like a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame roster having recorded or performed with the likes of Elvis Presley Stevie Wonder The Holmes Brothers, Buddy Miller and Dr. John 

Regina is the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel McCrary, who was a founding member of the legendary gospel group The Fairfield Four. Growing up in a house where music was both a divine calling and a daily practice, she developed a vocal style that is as much about storytelling and grit as it is about technical skill. 

Regina isn't just a "backup singer." She is a torchbearer for the Nashville music scene, bridging the gap between traditional African American gospel and modern Americana. Whether she’s performing at the Grand Ole Opry or a small blues club, she brings a massive amount of "spirit" to the stage.
